Animals in our sanctuary
Kayla came to De Zonnegloed in 2015. At the moment she is the last of the group of coypu we gave shelter. We hope to offer her soon a place where she can enjoy the peace and quiet together with other animals here in De Zonnegloed.
Where does he feel most at home?
The coypu is originally from South-America, but is kept for its fur in Europe, Asia and North-America. They like watery areas where they can build platforms from cane and other vegetation.
What's his favourite food?
They love to eat water plants and roots.
Although the coypu has the words ‘beaver’ or ‘rat‘ in its name in other languages, it’s neither! The coypu is too big to be a rat and its tail differs from that of a beaver.Adopt this Coypu
