Nathus is one of the many reptiles that are kept by private owners, but who cannot take care of the animals. The animals are brought in by the owner at an animal shelter or are taken in after they have been dumped and found by other people.

Where does he feel most at home?

The Chinese water dragon likes to live in the tropical rainforests of South East Asia.

What’s his favourite food?

They’re very good hunters who feed mainly on large insects, frogs, small lizards, mice, birds and in rare cases also fruit.

Fun fact

They have a 'third eye': a piece of skin with light-sensitive cells that can’t form an image like the other two eyes, but can perceive rough light/dark shifts, very handy when an enemy approaches from above, like a bird of prey.
