Gutta
Date of birth

Gutta was seized through a debt-collector. The owner had 14 days to pick up Gutta and the other animals he kept as pets, but the man couldn’t provide proper care for the animals anymore and left them with the NHC Opglabbeek.

Tatus
Date of birth
01-01-2001
Date of arrival
28-02-2019

Tatus is one of the many snakes that are kept by private owners, but who cannot take care of the animals. The animals are brought in by the owner at an animal shelter or are taken in after they have been dumped and found by other people.

Where does he feel most at home?

You’ll find the corn snake on the ground, in trees, on buildings and under logs, stones or debris in the Southeast of the USA.

What's his favourite food?

He likes rodents such as mice and rats, but will eat other animals, like frogs, lizards or birds as well. The corn snake will strangle its prey.

Fun fact

When they are scared, they’ll make a sound by vibrating with its tail, like rattlesnakes.
