Romeo

Romeo lived together with another peacock on a small farm. When the owners had to move to a flat, the animals could not go with them and they looked for a new home for the animals where they could be taken care of together. Fortunately, there was room for them here in De Zonnegloed.

Agnetha was left behind by her previous owners when they moved. The neighbours heard Agnetha calling and fortunately found her in time in a locked pen. She can now enjoy a loving home in a spacious enclosure with conspecifics.
Where does he feel most at home?
The Indian peafowl loves to live in the open spaces of a forest.
What's his favourite food?
They love to eat seeds, cereals, herbs, fruit and vegetables, but like to vary with an insect or a worm. If necessary they will eat a small snake or other animals.
Fun fact
The males have an extended tail covering consisted of long and strong feathers. The 150 feathers all have a peacock eye as design. The male will set up its tail at the end of winter to conquer a female. If a female shows interest, het male will turn its back towards the female, so she needs to walk around him to see his beautiful feathers.
