Turbo
Date of birth
20-02-2004
Date taken in
28-02-2019
Turbo

For fifteen years Turbo enjoyed a beautiful life with her former owner. The woman took very good care of her and gave her enough space to walk around. With pain in her heart, the woman finally decided to hand her over to De Zonnegloed, because the care was starting to become too heavy.

Nitro
Date of birth
01-01-2014
Date taken in
19-08-2019
Nitro

Nitro was kept as a pet by a young man. When the man left for Australia, he left Nitro with his parents. During his trip, the man decided to move to Australia for good and never returned for Nitro. The man's parents did not like to take care of the turtle and brought the animal into a shelter.

Suzy
Date of birth
01-01-2010
Date taken in

Suzy

Suzy was purchased by a private owner. At a certain moment, the woman voluntarily gave up the African spurred tortoise. Upon arrival she told the animal shelter that she had bought the animal in an impulse, but she later regretted it, because the animal was getting bigger and the care became too heavy.

Helmut

Helmut

Helmut, along with three other African spurred tortoises, was well cared for by a private individual who had taken them in as young, weakened animals. Over the years however, they became too big, and the person no longer had room to expand their enclosure any further. So he started looking for a new home where they could provide the space they needed. And that is how the turtles ended up at De Zonnegloed.
