Tau arrived with several other porcupines after a seizure in a Spanish zoo. The animals stayed in miserable situations. When the government seized the animals, they came to the conclusion that it was not about 2 animals but about a complete group. Together with the NHC Opglabbeek, these animals found a new life in De Zonnegloed. They now live together with the meerkats in a very spacious stay.

He likes carrots, tubers, bark and fruits.

Fun fact

The young are born fully developed. They can walk, their eyes are open and the spines are short and soft. After 2 weeks the spines are hard. Both parents take care of the young.

In case of danger the parents rattle their spines.

Young sleep in the middle, between the parents, in order to stay warm.
